Use of porcelain tiles

It will help to create the style, not overloading the space. For smaller spaces, it will be beneficial to use light colours while for spacey rooms you can choose darker colours. Another trend in bathroom design is to use geometrical patterns made from tiles. This decision is for those who would like to add visual variety. If you follow fashion – wood grain tiles will be for you.

Porcelain tile is more brittle and may require the experienced hand of an experienced tile-setter to cut properly. A wet tile saw is the recommended tool for cutting porcelain, while an inexpensive snap cutter generally works fine with porcelain tile.

Installation

Large Size Porcelain tile is installed using similar methods. Tiles are adhered to an underlayment of densshild using a mortar-based thin-set adhesive. Once the tiles are set, the joints between tiles are filled with mortar-based grout, which is sealed against moisture once it dries.

There are slight differences in how ceramic tile and porcelain tile are handled, based on their differing densities.

Lifespan

Large size porcelain tiles are very durable building materials, provided they are well cared for.

Backer materials for wall-tile

Densshield, commonly sold under trade names such as Durock, Hardiebacker, Kerdi Board and WonderBoard, is now the standard underlayment used for ceramic, porcelain, or stone tile laid with thinset mortar adhesive.

Densshield is used for most floor tile and has all but replaced plywood and drywall backer materials for wall-tile applications in wet areas like shower and tub surrounds.

Densshield forms a durable, stable base for tile, and it has no organic materials, so it is not prone to mold, rot, shrinkage, or decomposition due to moisture. Porcelain tile laid over cement board  is one of the most durable floor or wall surfaces you can install.
